In the middle of the Atlantic ocean, and off the cost of Morocco, the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo are a sanctuary of natural beauty. The exotic colours of the plants and flowers stand out from among the blue sea and the green vegetation.

This archipelago is home to the largest Laurisilva forest. Most of the island is protected as it is considered a world heritage site by UNESCO.

Over 2000km of irrigation channels know as "levadas" are spread out throughout the island. Most of the "levadas" have been adapted into walking trails offerring stunning views of the islands interior beauty.
